The National Science and Technology Development Agency (NSTDA), MHESI, recently welcomed a high-level government delegation for an official visit to review the agency’s research breakthroughs and technology platforms.
The delegation was led by Professor Dr. Yodchanan Wongsawat, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Higher Education, Science, Research and Innovation (MHESI). The visit drew ministers, deputy ministers, and key representatives from six major ministries, including Mr. Prasert Jantararuangtong, Minister of Education; Mr. Julapun Amornvivat, Minister of Labour; Mr. Watcharaphonn Khaokham, Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Cooperatives; Mr. Pongpol Yodmuangcharoen, Spokesperson for the Ministry of Energy; and Ms. Chanok Chanthathong, Deputy Ministry of Social Development and Human Security. Also in attendance were senior executives from the Ministry of Finance, Dr. Jadej Thammatacharee, MD, Secretary General, National Health Security Office (NHSO), and Dr. Theerarat Samrejvanich, Vice Minister attached to the Deputy Prime Minister.
Operating under the oversight of MHESI, NSTDA hosted this delegation to foster cross-ministerial integration, with the goal of leveraging advanced scientific research as a primary mechanism to drive the strategic missions of each ministry into concrete action. The visitors were warmly received by Professor Dr. Sukit Limpijumnong, President of NSTDA, alongside the agency’s executive team, researchers, and staff.
On this occasion, the National Energy Technology Center (ENTEC), led by Dr. Somboon Sahasithiwat, Executive Director of ENTEC, and his research team, extended a warm welcome to Deputy Prime Minister and MHESI Minister Professor Dr. Yodchanan Wongsawat, as well as Energy Ministry Spokesperson Mr. Pongpol Yodmuangcharoen, during the visit to ENTEC’s energy innovations, which encompass key areas across the clean energy technology supply chain. The showcase reflected Thailand’s energy technology development direction in support of decarbonization and the country’s Net Zero Emissions goals for the future, driven by the transition to clean energy through modern energy innovations and technologies.
ENTEC presented its energy innovations across four core pillars, as follows:
Battery technology: ENTEC demonstrated comprehensive solutions ranging from electrode materials, electrolytes, and cell manufacturing to end-of-life battery management, standardized battery-swapping systems for electric motorcycles, and specialized batteries for military and satellite applications.
Solar energy: ENTEC’s Solar Photovoltaic research focused on the inspection and quality assessment of used solar panels through the ‘SolarSure’ platform, alongside targeted upskilling and reskilling initiatives for the energy workforce.
Green Fuel and Bioenergy: ENTEC highlighted the development of H-FAME, a premium biodiesel designed to reduce carbon emissions and strengthen national energy security, alongside the advanced biogas to hydrogen (Biogas to H2) conversion technology.
Low-carbon Synthetic Fuels: The development of e-Methanol, positioning it as a vital alternative fuel for the future industrial and transportation sectors.
