Digital transformation has become a major trend in all technological disciplines. Internet of Things (IoT) plays a crucial role in connecting conventional systems, to transform the system of systems to a more efficient and user-friendly one. This also applies to the field of energy. Digitalization facilitates the integration of energy demand and supply systems which enables a smoother and more flexible energy management.
This is why ENTEC has identified “system integration and energy management” as another important research pillar to be focused within the first half of 2020s. Our work focuses on integration of renewable energy systems, conventional energy sources and energy storage, as well as design and modelling of the renewable controlling systems to enable the acquisition of energy data. The scope of work would also include the analysis and synthesis of energy data and information in order to contribute to more effective and well-structured energy management.
