2024.11.22 ENTEC, NSTDA, Welcomes Distinguished Delegation from Japan’s Biological Resource Center (NBRC), National Institute of Technology and Evaluation (NITE)

On November 22, 2024, at National Energy Technology Center (ENTEC), National Science and Technology Development Agency (NSTDA)

ENTEC hosted a significant visit from Japan’s leading research institution. Dr. Sumittra Charojrochkul, Executive Director of ENTEC, along with Dr. Lily Eurwilaichitr, Executive Assistant Director, and their research team welcomed senior executives and researchers from the Biological Resource Center (NBRC) of the National Institute of Technology and Evaluation (NITE), Japan, led by Dr. Hiroko Kawasaki, Senior Director of NBRC.

During the visit, the Japanese delegation toured ENTEC’s research facilities. Dr. Sumitra showcased ENTEC’s cutting-edge research in energy storage systems and battery material development. The tour continued to the Clean Fuel and Advanced Chemistry Research Laboratory, led by Dr. Lily, where Miss Kornrawee Srisawat presented their innovative work on Microbial Fuel Cell technology.

The visit led to a productive discussion between ENTEC executives and the NBRC delegation, focusing on potential collaboration in microbial applications for clean energy, particularly in Microbial Fuel Cell development and Hydrogen Production. The meeting also explored opportunities for the cooperation between ENTEC, NBRC, and BIOTEC’s Microbial Systems and Computational Biology Research Team, laying the groundwork for future research partnerships and technological exchange.

The National Institute of Technology and Evaluation (NITE), under Japan’s Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry (METI), is a trusted provider of technological services and information that supports public safety and helps address future challenges. The Biological Resource Center (NBRC), one of the world’s largest microbial repositories, plays a crucial role in microbial genome analysis and biosafety assessment of microorganisms, including genetically modified organisms used in industrial applications. NITE’s comprehensive work spans chemical management, standardization certification, and consumer safety, ensuring technological advancement with rigorous safety protocols.
