Dr. Sumittra Charojrochkul, Executive Director of the National Energy Technology Center (ENTEC) and Director of the Thailand Electric Vehicle Center of Excellence (TECE) under the National Science and Technology Development Agency (NSTDA), delivered a keynote address at the Next-Gen Thai Automotive & Parts Seminar. The event, held as part of the 46th Bangkok International Motor Show, explored the evolving landscape of the automotive and auto parts industries, focusing on the impact of modern automotive technologies.

Dr. Sumittra welcomed participants and shared insights into the future of the Thai automotive industry, highlighting the crucial role of TECE in driving the development of electric vehicles (EVs) in Thailand. During the Highlight Session: “Update on the Future of Thai Automotive with TECE,” she discussed the latest initiatives aimed at fostering the growth of electric mobility.
In addition, TECE organized a panel discussion titled “How to Catch the Train: How Can Thailand Keep Up with Modern Automotive Technologies?” The session offered new perspectives from industry experts featuring:
– Mr. Surapong Meantmitr, Deputy Director General of the Office of Transport and Traffic Policy and Planning (OTP)
– Mr. Suroj Sangsnit, President of the Electric Vehicle Association of Thailand (EVAT)
– Dr. Thanakarn Wongdeethai, Strategist at the National Science Technology and Innovation Policy Office (STI)
– Mrs. Jaruda Panthusane, Chair of the Committee on Electric Vehicle Working Group, The Thai Automotive Industry Association (TAIA)
– Mr. Apiwat Thawonkaew, Innovation Developer at the National Innovation Agency (NIA)

The session was moderated by Dr. Pimpa Limthongkul, Director of the Energy Innovation Research Group at ENTEC, NSTDA, and President of the Thai Energy Storage Technology Association (TESTA), who is also the chairperson of the Thailand Standard Swappable Battery Consortium for Small e-Mobility.
The event also featured an exhibition showcasing the latest research on electric vehicles from MTEC, NECTEC, ENTEC, and TECE. It highlighted EV standard testing services and consultations for entrepreneurs provided by ITAP and NIA.. The exhibition showcased key trends in electric vehicles, AI, and the Net Zero transition, emphasizing the interconnectedness of Thailand’s automotive industry with emerging technologies.
