2024.12.17-11 ENTEC Executive Director Joins the Strategic Study Visit to Japan Under “The Program on Legal System Development for the Introduction of Hydrogen Fuel Cell Vehicles in Thailand”

During December 11-17, 2024, in Japan

Dr. Sumittra Charojrochkul, Executive Director of National Energy Technology Center (ENTEC), was invited by the Hydrogen Thailand Association to participate in a strategic study visit focusing on hydrogen project site visits and collaborative discussions with key stakeholders. The engagement involved meetings with government agencies, private sector enterprises, and independent organizations, with the objective of establishing strategic directions, study lega frameworks and policies, and implementation measures for the entire hydrogen supply chain.

During this visit, Dr. Sumittra participated in a significant milestone – the signing ceremony of a cooperation agreement between the Japan Hydrogen Association and the Thailand Hydrogen Association. She also presented ENTEC’s energy research achievements, focusing on opportunities to leverage and apply research and development expertise through ongoing and future technological collaborations with Japanese organizations such as METI and NEDO.

The delegation visited several research institutions and hydrogen industry partners in Japan, including:

  1. Tungaloy, Nirasaki Factory (Hydrogen utility site)
  2. Office Hydrogen Refilling Standard (Research and technology development facility)
  3. Iwatani Cosmo Hydrogen (Refilling Station at Heiwajima, specializing in commercial vehicles)
  4. Tatsuno, Yokohama Factory (Hydrogen gas refilling dispenser manufacturing line)
  5. Mitsubishi Heavy Industries (Hydrogen value-chain business development site and hydrogen mix/mono fired gas turbine manufacturing factory)
  6. Kawasaki Heavy Industries (Liquid hydrogen global value chain business)

This official visit was fully sponsored by the Japanese partners, covering all expenses throughout the duration of the trip. The mission represents a significant step forward in Thailand-Japan cooperation in hydrogen technology development and implementation.
