The National Energy Technology Center (ENTEC), National Science and Technology Development Agency (NSTDA), represented by Dr. Peerawat Saisirirat, Leader of the Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency Research Team, Low Carbon Energy Research Group, participated as an invited speaker at “Sugar & Ethanol Asia 2026,” organized by Informa Connect.
Sugar & Ethanol Asia 2026 served as a regional platform bringing together industry leaders, researchers, experts, and stakeholders from Thailand and across Asia’s sugar, ethanol, and biofuel sectors. The event provided opportunities to exchange knowledge and insights on emerging technologies, industry trends, business opportunities, and pathways for the development and utilization of bio-based products and bioenergy.
At the event, Dr. Peerawat delivered a presentation entitled “From Alcohol to Aviation: Thailand’s AtJ SAF Development Journey with DEDE,” highlighting Thailand’s progress in developing Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF) from ethanol through the Alcohol-to-Jet (AtJ) pathway. His presentation also highlighted the role of research and development in advancing low-carbon energy and supporting the transition toward more sustainable aviation.
The development of ethanol-based SAF represents an important pathway for connecting Thailand’s existing ethanol and agricultural resources with the growing demand for lower-carbon aviation fuels. Through continued research and development in AtJ technology, Thailand can advance the conversion of domestic bio-based feedstocks into higher-value aviation fuels, while contributing to the development of Thailand’s emerging SAF ecosystem.
