2025.12.18-17 ENTEC-NSTDA Co-hosts Workshop on the Participatory Design of Nature-based Solutions under the Integrated Urban Climate Action for Low-Carbon and Resilient Cities Project

The National Energy Technology Center (ENTEC) under the National Science and Technology Development Agency (NSTDA), led by Dr. Nuwong Chollacoop, Director of the Low Carbon Energy Research Group, together with the working team, Dr. Kampanart Silva, Dr. Tawan Champeecharoensuk, and Ms. Khemika Juajamsai, partnered with Thammasat University’s Research Unit in Urban Futures and Policy (UFP), Faculty of Architecture and Planning, led by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Wijitbusaba Marome, and the research team, to organize the 3rd workshop on “Participatory Design of Nature-based Solutions (NbS) under the Integrated Urban Climate Action for Low-Carbon & Resilient Cities Project” in Phuket.

The workshop took place across two pilot sites in Phuket Province: Wichit Subdistrict Municipality on December 17, 2025, and Mai Khao Subdistrict Administrative Organization on December 18, 2025. The sessions brought together stakeholders to exchange insights, analyze climate change risks, and collaboratively design area-based measures and projects by integrating Nature-based Solutions (NbS) with low-carbon urban development tools, including Carbon City Footprint (CCF), Carbon Footprint for Organization (CFO), Thailand Voluntary Emission Reduction Program (T-VER), and Payment for Ecosystem Services (PES).

Workshop activities comprised technical lectures, discussions, and hands-on group sessions designed to jointly develop context-appropriate measures and projects tailored to local needs, covering disaster risk reduction, natural resource conservation, and the strengthening of urban resilience. Participants included representatives from local government organizations, urban planning agencies, academic institutions, research organizations, and international organizations.
