2026.07.03-01 ENTEC, NSTDA Plays a Key Role in Advancing Energy Transition at ASIA Sustainable Energy Week 2026

1–3 July 2026 | Queen Sirikit National Convention Center, Bangkok, Thailand

The National Energy Technology Center (ENTEC), National Science and Technology Development Agency (NSTDA), under the Ministry of Higher Education, Science, Research and Innovation (MHESI), played a prominent role at ASIA Sustainable Energy Week 2026 (ASEW 2026), contributing as a co-organizer, keynote speaker, moderator, and panelist across a wide range of technical forums.

Throughout the three-day event, ENTEC shared its expertise on sustainable fuels, hydrogen technologies, energy storage systems, electric vehicle (EV) battery management, and workforce development for the energy transition through the Energy Transition Workforce Skills Program. These efforts reflect ENTEC’s commitment to advancing technologies that support Thailand’s transition toward Carbon Neutrality and Net Zero Emissions.

One of the event’s highlights was the S.E.A. Sustainable Fuels Summit (SSF), which ENTEC co-hosted under the theme “From Waste to Wings & Waves: Thailand’s Role in Sustainable Fuel.” The summit brought together experts from government, industry, and academia to exchange perspectives on the development of sustainable aviation and marine fuels.

During the opening session, Dr. Somboon Sahasithiwat, Executive Director of ENTEC, emphasized the importance of integrating research, technological innovation, and multi-sector collaboration among government agencies, industry, and international partners to position Thailand as a regional hub for the production and utilization of sustainable fuels.

Dr. Nuwong Chollacoop, Acting Deputy Executive Director of ENTEC, highlighted that developing skilled human resources, advancing technologies, and strengthening collaboration among government, academia, and industry are essential to accelerating the energy transition. He stressed that translating innovation into practical applications will play a key role in supporting Thailand’s Carbon Neutrality and Net Zero ambitions.

ENTEC also participated in the Hydrogen Transition: Aligning Policy, Technology and Markets session, where Dr. Visarn Lilavivat, Researcher at ENTEC, shared insights into Thailand’s hydrogen economy roadmap. His presentation covered policy development, technological advancement, infrastructure readiness, and market development to promote hydrogen adoption across industry, power generation, and transportation.

At the MobilityTech Stage, Dr. Manop Masomtob, Researcher at ENTEC, delivered a presentation titled “How to Safely and Sustainably Manage EV Batteries Damaged by Floods and Fires.” The session addressed safety assessment, storage, transportation, and management of damaged lithium-ion batteries, as well as best practices for battery reuse and recycling to support the rapid growth of electric vehicles while minimizing environmental impacts.

Meanwhile, at Energy Storage Asia 2026, Dr. Pimpa Limthongkul, Director of the Energy Innovation Research Group at ENTEC and President of the Thailand Energy Storage Technology Association (TESTA), welcomed participants to The 6th TESTA Annual Symposium under the theme “Driving Net Zero Through Energy Storage Innovation.” She emphasized that energy storage technologies are a key enabler for renewable energy integration, grid stability, and Thailand’s journey toward Net Zero through collaboration among government, industry, and the research community.

ENTEC also contributed to the Trusted Measurements for a Sustainable Energy Future forum through the panel discussion “Trusted Measurement for Sustainable Solar Energy.” Dr. Amornrat Limmanee, Leader of the Solar Photovoltaic Technology Research Team at ENTEC, joined representatives from the energy sector and industry to discuss the importance of reliable measurement, technology performance evaluation, standards development, and investor confidence in accelerating solar energy deployment and supporting the transition to a low-carbon society.

In addition, ENTEC supported the development of the future energy workforce through the Energy Transition Workforce Skills Program: Advanced Training in SMRs, Clean Heat, and Hydrogen Technologies. The program focused on equipping professionals with the knowledge and skills needed to support the energy transition, covering the role of Small Modular Reactors (SMRs) in enhancing energy security and reducing carbon emissions, workforce development for nuclear and hydrogen technologies, and collaboration among government, academia, and industry to prepare the next generation of clean energy professionals. Dr. Kampanart Silva, Researcher at ENTEC, served as the moderator for the session.

ENTEC’s active participation at ASIA Sustainable Energy Week 2026 reaffirmed its role as Thailand’s leading national energy research center in advancing research, innovation, and strategic partnerships that support the country’s energy transition. Through knowledge sharing, technology development, and cross-sector collaboration, ENTEC continues to contribute to Thailand’s progress toward achieving Carbon Neutrality and Net Zero Emissions while fostering sustainable energy development across the region.
