2025.07.25 ENTEC Leads ERC Delegation on an Energy Transition Study Visit in Khon Kaen

On July 25, 2025, at Ubol Ratana Dam and the Battery and New Energy Science and Technology Factory (KKUVOLT), Khon Kaen University, Khon Kaen Province

The National Energy Technology Center (ENTEC), NSTDA organized a study visit under the “Capability Building for Energy Transition (2025)” training program. The study visit was arranged for executives and staff from the Energy Regulatory Commission (ERC) to enhance their understanding of clean energy innovations and sustainable energy technology development in Thailand.

In the morning, ENTEC led the ERC delegation, headed by Mr. Prasit Siritiprussamee, Deputy Secretary-General of the ERC, along with senior executives and staff, on a visit to the Hydro-Floating Solar Hybrid Power Generation System at Ubol Ratana Dam. This project is one of the clean energy initiatives operated by the Electricity Generating Authority of Thailand (EGAT). The group was welcomed by Mr. Pongsakorn Ruangmontri, Assistant Director of the Hydropower Plant, Northeastern Region 2 and Mr. Theerachai Senwirat, Assistant Director of the Solar Power Plant Development Project. The visit included a project briefing followed by a Q&A session, and later a field tour of the solar floating system.

In the afternoon, Dr. Sumittra Charojrochkul, Executive Director of ENTEC, along with Dr. Visarn Lilavivat, Senior Researcher, and ENTEC staff, led the delegation to visit the Battery and New Energy Science and Technology Factory (KKU VOLT) at Khon Kean University. The visit was hosted by Associate Professor Dr. Nonglak Meethong, Director of the facility, who guided the group through the production processes of lithium-ion batteries and showcased KKUVOLT’s innovations in energy storage technology.

This study visit provided participants with valuable insights into the advancements in the energy sector—from clean energy generation to modern energy storage systems—highlighting key components of Thailand’s transition toward a more sustainable energy future.
