On 23 June 2026, the National Energy Technology Center (ENTEC), National Science and Technology Development Agency (NSTDA), together with the International Collaboration Division (ICD), representatives from BIOTEC, and NANOTEC, welcomed a delegation from Kunming University of Science and Technology (KUST), led by Professor Dr. Liu Dianwen, Vice President of KUST, during a visit to NSTDA’s research facilities and laboratories at Thailand Science Park, Pathum Thani.
On this occasion, Dr. Peerawat Saisirirat, Leader of the Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency Research Team at ENTEC, warmly welcomed the delegation. During the meeting, Dr. Visarn Lilavivat, Senior Researcher, Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency Research team, introduced ENTEC’s research activities and strategic focus areas, including advanced renewable energy, biofuel, and hydrogen technologies. The KUST delegation also presented an overview of the university’s research strengths and capabilities. The meeting provided an opportunity for researchers from both institutions to exchange information and discuss areas of mutual interest, particularly in new energy technologies, advanced materials, and nanotechnology.
The delegation subsequently visited ENTEC’s laboratories, where Dr. Nattanai Kunanusont, Researcher in the Energy Storage Technology Research Team, presented the latest advancements in energy storage technologies. The presentation highlighted the development of swappable battery packs, approaches to enhancing lithium-ion battery performance, and comprehensive end-of-life battery management strategies that support Thailand’s Bio-Circular-Green (BCG) Economy model and national low-carbon society goals.
In addition, the KUST delegation visited the Thailand–China Joint Lab on Microbial Biotechnology and the Thailand Bioresource Research Center (TBRC) at BIOTEC, where they received presentations from Ms. Suwanee Chunhametha. The delegation also toured the Advanced Nano Agriculture Research (ANA) Laboratory at NANOTEC and learned about its research activities from Dr. Khomson Suttisintong, Research Team Leader.
The visit marked an important step in exploring future collaboration opportunities between NSTDA and KUST, while providing a valuable platform for knowledge exchange, research networking, and capacity building in emerging energy technologies and other strategic research areas.
