The National Energy Technology Center (ENTEC), under the National Science and Technology Development Agency (NSTDA), represented Thailand at the regional training program titled “Green Energy Cooperation and Development in the Lancang–Mekong Region.” The ENTEC delegation was led by Dr. Amornrat Limmanee, Leader of the Solar Photovoltaic Research Team, together with Mr. Phumanan Niyomna, Research Assistant from the Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency Research Team.
The program brought together participants from six countries under the Lancang–Mekong Cooperation framework—namely China (Yunnan Province), Myanmar, Vietnam, Lao PDR, Cambodia, and Thailand. The training was supported by the People’s Government of Yunnan Province and the Mekong Institute, and was held from March 22 to 31, 2026, in Kunming, Yunnan Province, People’s Republic of China.
During the training, Dr. Amornrat actively engaged with fellow participants by sharing insights on solar energy utilization and shared perspectives drawn from Thailand’s research experience. The program also provided exposure to a wide range of green energy technologies. These included Ultra High Voltage Direct Current (UHVDC) transmission systems, which enable efficient long-distance electricity transmission over distances exceeding 600 kilometers. In addition, the delegation further had the opportunity to visit a 105-megawatt solar power plant and a 400-megawatt-hour Vanadium Redox Flow energy storage facility, gaining firsthand insight into large-scale clean energy infrastructure in operation.
The training aimed to strengthen the capacity of officials, researchers, and energy practitioners from Lancang–Mekong countries, equipping them to navigate the ongoing energy transition and advance regional power grid connectivity.
