On 12 August 2025, the Ministry of Higher Education, Science, Research and Innovation (MHESI), together with the National Energy Technology Center (ENTEC), NSTDA, organized an international training workshop titled “From Colorful Hydrogen to Low-carbon Hydrogen: Potential Regional Collaboration towards Carbon Neutrality” at MR 205, Queen Sirikit National Convention Center, as part of the MHESI Fair: Sci Power for Future Thailand.

The opening ceremony was presided over by Dr. Luksmon Smansin, Director of the International Affairs Division, Office of the Permanent Secretary, MHESI, and Dr. Sumittra Charojrochkul, Executive Director of ENTEC, with participation from ASEAN member state representatives, academics, and the general public.
Keynote presentations were delivered by Prof. Dr. John T. S. Irvine from the University of St Andrews, United Kingdom, and Dr. Visarn Lilavivat, Senior Researcher at ENTEC, addressing the hydrogen-powered energy transition and the role of carbon footprint in defining hydrogen’s contribution to carbon neutrality.
A highlight of the event was the “Colors of Hydrogen” panel discussion, featuring experts from Thailand, Vietnam, and Indonesia on Blue, Green, Turquoise, and Pink Hydrogen. The session, moderated by Dr.Kampanart Silva from ENTEC, explored technological advancements, commercialization challenges, and the potential for cross-color collaboration to accelerate hydrogen deployment in the region.
The workshop aimed to raise awareness on low-carbon hydrogen production in ASEAN and lay the groundwork for regional cooperation towards achieving carbon neutrality.
