2024.12.20 ENTEC and Alliances Co-Host SIPA Inception Workshop on “Sound Climate Investment for Sustainable Transport Infrastructure Towards Thailand’s NDC Goals”

December 20, 2024, at the Royal Princess Hotel Larnn Luang, Bangkok.

The National Energy Technology Center (ENTEC), in collaboration with the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), the Office of Transport and Traffic Policy and Planning (OTP), the National Economic and Social Development Council (NESDC), and the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD), organized the inception workshop for the Sustainable Infrastructure Programme in Asia or SIPA on the topic “Sound Climate Investment for Sustainable Transport Infrastructure Towards Thailand’s NDC Goals” at the Royal Princess Hotel, Larn Luang, Bangkok.

The workshop welcomed distinguished participants from various sectors, including:

  2. Mr. Sukit Siwanansakul, Director of Infrastructure Project Office, NESDC
  3. Mr. Punnaluck Surassawadee, Investment Analysis Expert, Infrastructure Project Office, NESDC
  4. Ms. Chutinthorn Mankhong, Chief of Sustainable Transport Promotion Group under the Bureau of Safety Planning, OTP
  5. Mr. Khan Ram-Indra, Integration Team Leader, UNDP
  6. Ms. Lisa Louveton, Strategic Partnership Manager, UNDP
  7. Dr. Nuwong Chollacoop, Low Carbon Energy Research Group Director, ENTEC, NSTDA

Dr. Kampanart Silva, a researcher from Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency Research Team, Low Carbon Energy Research Group, delivered key presentations on:

  1. The review report covering literature review, preliminary policy mapping, situational analysis, relevant legislation, assessment criteria, and case studies related to Thailand’s current transport planning process
  2. The potential scope and assessment criteria, and capacity needed for Sound Climate Investment for Sustainable Infrastructure towards Thailand’s NDC goals, with a specific focusing on resilient transport system

The SIPA inception workshop aimed to engage key stakeholders to review existing information, data, policies, and assessment criteria regarding transport infrastructure investment in Thailand preliminarily developed, and to conduct stakeholder analysis and need assessment as well as provide insights/suggestions for effective implementation. The outputs of this workshop will lay the ground for deeper and wider engagement with stakeholders in the development of a Guideline for Sound Climate Investment for Sustainable Infrastructure Towards Thailand’s NDC goals, with a specific focus on resilient transport, and capacity development with relevant stakeholders.
