On January 26, 2025, at the One North Meeting Room, INC2 Building, Thailand Science Park, Pathum Thani
The National Energy Technology Center (ENTEC), National Science and Technology Development Agency (NSTDA), in collaboration with the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) and the Thailand International Cooperation Agency (TICA), organized an international training program titled “The Third Country Training Programme on Energy Resilience Assessment: Towards Climate Adaptable Energy Systems.”
This program aimed to strengthen knowledge and skills in Energy Resilience Assessment for representatives from ASEAN member countries, including Brunei Darussalam, Indonesia, Lao PDR, Malaysia, Myanmar, Timor-Leste, and Thailand. The training addressed the impacts of climate change, extreme weather events, and natural disasters, as well as to support the development of sustainably adaptable energy systems, which are crucial factors for energy security and achieving the Net Zero Emissions goals of countries in the region.
The opening ceremony was honored by the presence of Ms. Rie Komahashi, Senior Representative of the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA); Mr. Grisada Phakakarn, Director of the Human Resources Development Cooperation Division, Thailand International Cooperation Agency (TICA); and Dr. Lily Euawilaichitr, Executive Assistant Director of the National Energy Technology Center (ENTEC), NSTDA. They jointly delivered the official opening remarks, emphasizing the importance of integrating energy knowledge with climate change adaptation strategies at the ASEAN regional level.
The training was conducted from January 26–30, 2026, led by Dr. Kampanart Silva, Researcher, and Mr. Pidpong Janta, Research Assistant, together with the Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency Research Team from the Low Carbon Energy Research Group at ENTEC, who served as the training facilitators. The curriculum covered policy frameworks on climate adaptation, international standards on energy resilience, best practices from various countries, and hands-on training using the ASEAN Energy Resilience Assessment Guideline and digital assessment platforms.
This training program reflects ENTEC’s strategic role as a regional knowledge hub supporting energy technology, energy policy development, and capacity building for Thailand and ASEAN. It contributes in a tangible way to strengthening climate change adaptation, enhancing energy security, and advancing the region’s Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and Net Zero targets.
