The National Energy Technology Center (ENTEC), NSTDA organized the workshop titled “Climate-Smart Investment for Sustainable Transport Infrastructure toward Thailand’s NDC Goals” in Bangkok. This event marked the final session of the training series under the Sustainable Infrastructure Programme in Asia (SIPA), following previous workshops held in Phuket, Nakhon Ratchasima, and Chiang Mai.
The workshop was conducted by ENTEC with support from the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) Thailand, in collaboration with the Office of the National Economic and Social Development Council (NESDC) and the Office of Transport and Traffic Policy and Planning (OTP). More than 60 participants from central and regional government agencies, as well as academic institutions from Bangkok and nearby areas, attended the event to exchange knowledge and enhance their understanding of designing climate investment projects for the transport sector.
During the event, the ENTEC research team, led by Dr. Nuwong Chollacoop, Director of Low Carbon Energy Research Group and Dr. Kampanart Silva, researcher of Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency Research Team, shared knowledge covering an overview of the project, the rationale and concepts of climate considerations, climate risk assessment processes, cost–benefit analysis for climate-related investments, and the introduction of practical tools and resources that can be applied within relevant agencies.
Participants also engaged in discussions on climate-related challenges facing transport infrastructure in the context of Bangkok, a major metropolitan area with complex vulnerabilities. The workshop aimed to strengthen the capacity of agencies to apply this knowledge in developing investment projects that effectively address climate concerns while promoting sustainable transport systems.
