Dr. Pimpa&#8217;s presentation focused on the topic \u201cNear-term Opportunities for Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS).\u201d<\/span><\/p><p><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\">During her session, Dr. Pimpa outlined strategies for utilizing BESS to enhance grid stability during peak demand periods (on-peak) and emphasized the importance of integrating energy storage systems with the grid, both in the short and long term. She also highlighted key investment opportunities in this area.<\/span><\/p><p><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\">The workshop, organized by GIZ through the Clean, Affordable, and Secure Energy for Southeast Asia (CASE) project and the Thai-German Cooperation on Energy, Mobility, and Climate (TGC-EMC) project, provided a platform for exchanging insights on increasing the share of renewable energy, strengthening energy security, and supporting Thailand\u2019s carbon neutrality goals within the electricity sector. Additionally, it offered a forum for discussing important policy recommendations for Thailand\u2019s energy transition.<\/span><\/p><p><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\">Experts, researchers, and policymakers came together at the event to share perspectives on developing renewable energy in Thailand by 2030. The workshop also presented the latest data from the International Energy Agency (IEA), which revealed that fossil fuel usage in Southeast Asia remains over 70%.
