ENTEC Participated in APEC STI Strategic Foresight Workshop 2024 : Net-zero Emissions https://www.entec.or.th/entec-participated-in-apec-sti-strategic-foresight-workshop-2024-net-zero-emissions/ Mon, 12 Feb 2024 03:14:00 +0000 https://www.entec.or.th/?p=10462

Dr. Sumittra Charojrochkul, ENTEC’s executive director, participated in the APEC STI Strategic Foresight Workshop 2024: Net-zero Emissions. This workshop was organized by the APEC Center for Technology Foresight (APEC CTF), under the Office of the National Higher Education Science Research and Innovation Policy Council (NXPO), spanning from January 23 to 25, 2024, at The Pago Design Hotel Phuket. The gathering brought together participants from nine APEC economies, including Brunei Darussalam, People’s Republic of China, Chinese Taipei, Japan, Malaysia, Peru, Republic of Korea, Thailand, and The United States.

The primary objective of this event was to equip APEC with the readiness to confront the driving forces behind climate change and achieve net-zero emissions by 2050. This ambitious target emanates from the significant momentum generated by the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) agreement. The workshop sought to fortify networks through profound information exchange, the sharing of exemplary practices from each economy, and the establishment of collective targets to foster cooperation and practical proposals for the advancement of Science, Technology, and Innovation (STI) in the future. On this occasion, Dr. Sumittra Charojrochkul actively contributed insights and opinions on hydrogen (CCS) during the workshop.

This practical session was an integral part of the Self-funded APEC Science Technology and Innovation Strategic Foresight project (Project Number: PPSTI 05 2023S), receiving approval from APEC’s Policy Partnership for Science, Technology, and Innovation (PPSTI). The project places a focal point on promoting the development of science, technology, and innovation within the APEC economies.
